It’s all about tech mostly this week. With a little bit of food thrown in. And of course the weather, because what sort of Brit would I be if I didn’t mention it…

  • πŸ“± New iPhone has arrived! Not had much time to test the photographic might out yet, but that should change in the upcoming week. Taking a photo of the same area in my home with the 14 Pro Max and the 15 Pro Max however, I do think the deep fusion process is different, especially in how it deals with strong light sources and tones.

Before I wiped my old phone I took a casual shot of my living room with both phones and the way it captured the lamp light detail with the same settings is different. πŸ€”

  • πŸŽ₯ I’m excited to play with more video so have bought a 1TB Samsung SSD to directly record onto. I tried to use it today but… the cable it comes with was too fat to fit in the hole in the apple case πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ. If you buy a Samsung SSD be warned! Time to dig through the cable bucket…

  • 🎬 Speaking of video, I think the time has come to buy Final Cut. I can’t quite stomach the Β£300 for a hobby just yet1, but Β£50 for a year’s access on iPad? Sign me up! An example of subscription pricing providing a benefit! I’ve enjoyed noodling with iMovie over the years but the I find the GUI extremely frustrating.

  • 🧲 Next step is to make a frankenmagsafessd out if it.

  • 🍏 In more Apple news, I think the FineWoven hubbub is a bit overblown. Day 3 and Mine certainly hasn’t immediately exploded into a torn oil stained mess just yet. I think most of the concerns about stains, tears and marks could be just as relevant to leather as well. If you want to talk about a case that looks horrible pretty quickly….may I introduce the leather cases from the iPhone 12 onwards?

  • πŸ“Ί had a couple of conversations about Youtube this week. Off the back of some of the really clickbaity new iPhone videos on YouTube2 but also about it’s non tech content, the effects on how we watch media, our kids and so on.3

It’s important to realise that these people are not journalists or professionals held to any real standards.

Essentially, YouTubers are performers who are subject to only their own morality. My rule of thumb with Youtube is to be careful and thoughtful with your follows, Think about what you watch and be critical of it.

  • πŸ‘¨β€πŸ’» My Micro.Blog renaissance continues. Having some great conversations, discovering great content and having fun posting my own stuff as well! I was really happy to have finally gotten out part 4 of my Japan Diaries. I’m going to ensure part 5 comes out next week without fail 🀞

  • 🌧️ Autumn is coming at us fast now. I’m actually wearing coats again when I go out πŸ₯Ά. Just in time for my son’s rugby practice kick in πŸ‰

  • Still thinking about the baked goods we got from our local Italian bakery. They do a weekly sourdough subscription and after careful consideration we’ve decided to sign up for that!

Have a wonderful week everyone and I’ll see you again on the other side of it 🫑

  1. Oh I’d pay a high price and more for Aperture if they’d only bring it back 😒 ↩︎

  2. “Oh the cameras are terrible” , “Finewoven is a Disaster” , “I can’t believe Apple have done THIS” Cue shocked face thumbnail with a big red arrow pointing at a phone… ↩︎

  3. Mr Beast and the concept of performative charity. Travel vloggers who are incredibly disrespectful to the cultures they visit…the list of examples…sadly goes on and on… ↩︎
