The Blackpool Tower ‘fire’ turned out to be some orange netting flapping in the wind
Six fire engines, a drone team, a rope rescue team, a specialist climbing team and a helicopter were called to Blackpool Tower after a suspected fire broke out. Lancashire Police later confirmed what could be seen was just orange netting in the wind.
Quite a realistic effect! I can see why people thought it at first. Something about this story is just quintessential Blackpool. Glad the landmark of my birth county wasn’t really on fire!
